Future of Education and Technology (Week #14 Post)

I don't think that there is anyone out there writing about technology and education that would argue that the options for integration are limited. Really the sky is the limit with the options that are current and that will be discovered in the near future with the way that the IT world is pumping out devices, products and even applications. We have learned over the course of this semester that there is an immense benefit in student learning when the teacher implements technology into the classroom. The future of education will require teachers to be literate in the technology available to them as well as being able to use it in lessons. Also in the future bringing in technology will become less expensive as the tech itself develops offering districts more of an opportunity to put the systems (whatever they may be) into more schools and more classrooms. In the future we can expect to see the 3D fascination hit the classroom as well as an increased ability for more and more things to become interactive for students. Also, I believe that in the future of education online class options for older students, video conferencing with classes across the country or the world and even creating projects that digitally find their way around the world will be common place in many classrooms. However, with all the new technology that is being created the teacher has a hard task ahead. Being literate and implementing the technology is only one part but also being able to manage, teach, and foster a sense of digital ethics in the student is another. Teachers will have to change how they teacher to compensate for a student that learns in a different way. This will be something that is either embraced by the individual or completely resented. Either way education is changing, just as fast, to keep up with the technology industry and the new learners that it is producing.
